This 'Scream' magazine has gone for the conventional red
colour of writing. This is a conventional colour for horror films because red
connotes anger, blood and evil sending unconscious messages to the audience,
letting them know that it is a horror film/magazine. The mast-head
'Scream' have drops of blood falling off of each letter. This conforms to the
convention of horror films as you are very likely to have blood shown in it. It
will attract audience who are into gruesome horror films as they know from
the title that there will be some kind of blood shown. Although this is a
conventional title for horrors, I do not like it. This is because I think
it comes across quite childish and animated making it seem quite fake.
Empire magazine has gone for a similar titles to 'Scream' magazine. It has red letters however, is shown with fire spreading over the mast head. Fire connotes danger, death and anger. These are all typical conventions of horror films. Having the black background makes the antagonist stand out as well as the text because the colours clash; the black connotes fear and the unknown.
